    2007

My Husband needs Hip Replacements due to Avascular Necrosis of the Femer Head.  Both Hips.  He's been investigating the different types and decide to have the MOM done (Metal on Metal)  The Only Doctor near Us was in Baltimore at The Sinai Hospital, The Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics.  The Surgeon was the Guy that Developed and took this to Trial, Dr Mont.  The Double Hip Replacements took 2 Weeks.  I was lucky enough to get a Room across the street developed by the Caring Bridge Association at a Great Cost Savings.
After the Surgeries and Rehabs needed, We went back Home to Virginia Beach.
Our Friends had Painted the Intire Interior of Our Home while We were gone.
We were on Our way to putting Our Home up for Sale and moving to Arkansas.
On top of all of this with My Husband, My Eyesight was beginning to deteriorate.  I needed Eye Surgery due to Diabetes.  <sigh>  Would We ever start having Good Luck?  We both kept a Positive Attitude and took the Good with the Bad.   Insert the cool emoticon.

Kat I will try to keep you in my prayers. I pray for you guys ( heppers). You are blessed with friends that help you. My eyes are horrible and tx and taking pain meds have ruined my teeth and well I am looking for a couple of years of gruellingwork to walk again. Hopefully I will at least stand up straight. Your husbands hip sounds aweful. I have the worst pain in mine and they can't seem to find the problem. On top of that I have a kidney stone and I think it is trying to pass.I keep having...

Life is not always a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes, playing a poor hand well.

        2006

After the 2 Week Shut Down for Christmas and New Years at Raytheon, I returned to Work.

Short Term Disability for 3 Months at the end was greatly welcomed.  The HCV Treatment really took it's toll on Me, Physically and Emotionally.  FMLA the beginning of Treatment helped tremendously.

If not for the Rescue Medication, Aranesp, I wouldn't have been able to complete this ordeal.  Looking back on all this, I really am amazed at how strong I was to be able to not quit and complete this.

Raytheon was My Employer since 1983.  Raytheon was like Family back in the early Days.  To My dismay, Raytheon turned into a Big Business and decided to cut back and farm out tasks in other areas.  The Procurement Dept was the Cut that effected Me.  In September 2006, I was laid off.  It wasn't too much of a shock but still I hoped it wouldn't happen to Me.

9 Months after Treatment, I'm without a Job but with a Severance of 6 Months.  Full Benefits until Cobra kicks in March 2007.  Looking back, I believe this respite was a Good thing.
