A dozen or so years ago, I became a blogger in the service of American Democracy by establishing a blog on this website. I named it "Option Left" and I posted on it daily for over one year beginning in late June of 2008 through September 2009. It became a daily evolution for me to discuss the 2008 General Election and afterward it included other current events, local, state and national. It was for me a practice run for a personal blog which I eventually established in late November of 2014. My blog, Reason Rest Stop, has reliably been a first person account of its billing, that being "Liberal news and views from the Mother Road's most Conservative stretch." Consistent with the moniker of my online alter ego, it displays a Route 66 motif. It uses a Wordpress.org platform and is maintained on an independent server. For the past ten days, a Wordpress plug-in has broken the site such it is inaccessible. It requires attention by the server administrator, who is apparently on vacation. I am hoping to eventually get reasonreststop.com repaired, but in the meantime this journal may have to suffice for ideas intended for a blog post. It is true that a blog can take over a writer's life if it is allowed. Reason Rest Stop is but an extension of my own personal daily journal, a work currently in its 46th volume. Stay tuned, there are plenty happenings afoot to discuss at length.
