"The left is not interested in debating us, and they're not interested in winning a debate in the arena of ideas. They are scared to death of our ideas -- and, as such, the way they go about winning is to try to discredit anybody and everybody who's credible with alternative ideas to liberalism."

The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is. Winston Churchill (and poster Jball)

Constitutional Constructionist (social policies should be made through the democratic process, not by judicial fiat)

I have lived through a lot of world-changing events and experienced a myriad of historical innovations. I have lost a lot of the optimism that runs free in the young, liberal population of nowadays. I tend to be more conservative on the political spectrum, and consider myself a bit of a realist. I definitely support human rights and other social issues, but I have a harder stance on things like immigration, security and economic policies. Although I am mostly a traditionalist, I am open to some forms of progress, while keeping the pillars of society strong.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

The idea that we can have mixed cultures and only one set of laws is not practical. Laws are made to suit the culture of the people, with the West being ruled by variations of the English common law for example, while Islamic countries abide by variations of sharia, and other cultures have their own sets of rules.

Mixing them up results in conflict and hatreds, and we see evidence of it every day. - Doc3152
