aging hippie. traded in my barefeet for birkenstocks when i got married. my hair is long and as straight as if i ironed it. i can set it on pipe cleaners and it will still be straight. recently switched to plastic 'tortiseshell' glasses after i fell on my face and broke the antique white-gold frames i'd worn for the past 20 years.
surprisingly conventional and conservative. ordained deacon in the reformed church of america.
mostly celt. smidgeon of cheyenne.
unashamedly liberal.
strict vegetarian.
veteran of peace marches and civil rights marches in the 60s. while i was marching, i was also engaged to a sailor in the us navy. i sent him and his friends frequent care packages. so even back then, i supported the troops while opposing the war.
i usually don't vote FOR a candidate. i try to figure out who scares me the most and what candidate has the best chance of beating him or her. i then vote AGAINST the candidate that scares me by casting my vote for the one who could beat him or her. lately, this has turned me into a yellow dog democrat.
to borrow a phrase from jodi-straight but not narrow.
my adopted daughter is a lesbian. i wanted her partner for my daughter-in-law. when i realized that wouldn't happen by usual means, i adopted e---.so now k--- is my daughter-in-law, just as i wanted.
married in 1974. still married to same man. my friends refer to him as 'st. b--' for putting up with all of my oddities.
two sons, one adopted daughter. i have other 'children,' friends of my oldest son, who have adopted me as mom and their children refer to me as grannie. i take this as a complement.
two granddaughters by my oldest son.
do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
