Joined the USS Robinson DDG12 in April 1979 in the middle of the IO, dropped from a helo to the fantail. Completed that cruise and the WestPac 1980-1981. Left her in the shipyards in Bremerton, WA in Dec 1981. Transfered to the USS John Rodgers DD 983 out of Charleston, SC. Went right back to the northern IO and the Persian Gulf through the Suez Canal in Spring 1982 during the start of the Iran/Iraq war. Then to Central America through the Panama Canal in the fall of 1982. Back to the Med from spring to fall of 1983 where we were stationed off Beruit and was one of the ships who fired our 5"ers there. My 6th and las cruise was to the Artic Circle and northern Europe in Feb 1984. Discharge in shipyards in Pasagula, MS in Aug 1984. 7 years active duty.
