I just want to clarify my reason for leaving the chatroom I chatted in to dispel rumors. Unless you have heard that I left because I don't tolerate homophobia in any context, it's not true.

I have never hid the fact that my oldest son is gay, he is an amazingly smart, secure man and I am very proud of him. He wasn't always this way, growing up he was subjected to serious harassment to the point he tried to take his life. The kids involved tried to explain it away as they were just joking. So, when someone in chat made comments about "prancing" male cheerleaders and tried to use the "just joking" excuse when I spoke up, I had enough. No active hosts in the room which probably wouldn't have done shit, because the host had shown themself prone to making scurrilous comments about another male chatter including calling them a drag queen. Yes, I have the chat logs.

Why would I want to contribute to a chatroom where this behavior is allowed? I don't. I don't socialize with people like that offline and I damn sure won't do it online. So, I scrubbed my profile clean and have been enjoying life offline with my kids, exes and friends. My taste for chat was soured and I haven't been chatting anywhere else. I do keep in touch with a certain alien mostly to keep her from crashing the Mothership into my house and stomping me to death while beating me with a stale baguette.

Take care of yourselves, practice tolerance and never be scared to take a stand for those who may not be able to take one for themselves.
