RPG CharacterKnown as The Golden Enchantress, Lady Valerian Escalinenia is an elven enchantress of Tyran's days of old. It is difficult to say how old she is now, but elven blood ensures that she remains eternally young. At least in appearance. The truth behind her eyes remains, however. Valerian is a woman of experience and power.

Valerian has access to all schools of magic besides necromancy, although she is specialized in and prefers the schools of enchantment and charm.

She is a creature of indulgence and luxury, but no stranger to work and toil. She is battle experienced, has shed blood of her own and others, and knows the sorrow of loss. Now, she prefers to take a more subtle role in events, if any at all.

At one time, Valerian was Headmistress of the school of magic in Tyran. Magic is her passion, and teaching magic to young aspiring mages is something she enjoys. After a time, however, she faded into obscurity as mysteriously as she had arrived. However, even after years of absence, she still manages to materialize now and then when whim strikes her.

She is never seen without her staff, Amber. She now requires the staff to walk long distances, due to a near chronic fatigue which has crippled her body with periodic weakness (despite this, the fatigue never seems to affect her dance). Years ago, she was forced to cast a spell far too advanced for her use at the time, and she paid the price of her health. The spell was one of draconic transformation, and should she deem necessary to cast the spell again, the subsequent toll on her body would likely kill her in the end.

Amber is an ornate staff of oak, which bears an amber globe about the size of a man's fist at the top. It is sentient, and she is known to speak to it often. It possesses mild healing capabilities, and will 'come when called'. If another is holding Amber when Valerian calls for it, the staff will shock them until they release it. Over the years, Valerian has enchanted Amber with numerous other abilities of various purposes. Amber is her oldest and dearest friend, the one constant she has had all of these long years when everyone around her has died of old age.
