Suze Orman Advises Potential Twitter Buy

In her latest “Can I Afford It” segment, Orman strongly advises Mark Z. — an obvious reference to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg — against buying Twitter. She exclaims, “You want to spend $1.5 billion on Twitter, do I have that right? … Why do you need to buy it … you know Twitter, you can get it for free.”

Of course, the video is all in jest and first aired at last night’s Shorty Awards in New York.

    New Webpage In the Making

I needed a new webpage. I mean really, really needed a new one. I can't even remember when I last had one, or what it looked like. Most of my webpages have been uh... marginal. I'm really not any good at HTML.

I'd built a page on Squidoo, but I was never really happy with that one, since it's not really a webpage, it's a lens - and though I like their products for building lenses (think "fan pages" or "product pages,)  I don't like their ads.

I wanted my own webpage on Delphi again, in my own space, where I can control everything.

Somewhere this weekend I ran across a webpage template builder. You select all your elements online, then download the finished design. Then all you have to do is change your content. They don't have a huge selection of designs, but it's easy to work with, and you do have full control over colors and fonts, and it's done with a style sheet, so you can easily make other pages as well.

It's also free as long as you carry this statement in the footer: "Web template created with doTemplate "

I like how it turned out. It's not fancy, it's not flashy, and it's not quite finished yet, but it integrates nicely with my profile & journal, and I can add a blog later on by connecting either my Delphi blog, or one from another source. I hate the thought of using another source, because I really do like Delphi's blog product. It's far easier to use and control than Blogger or Word Press. Faster, too. You know me, I'm all Delphi, all the time, but I made the mistake long ago of pigeon-holing my blog by giving it the webtag opolls. Owell. My poll forum was what I was into at the time, what can I say?

Anyway, my new webpage does what I need for it to do, which is to give a little intro to me, and to link to my forums and provide Twitter info - both for people from Twitter to check me out on Delphi, and for Delphi folks to check me out on Twitter. By connecting to my splash page instead of directly to my astronomy forum, I hope I can get some interest in the other forums as well.

Now I just need to figure out how to make the third column stick to the top of the page on the kiosk page I was trying to make... Ye gods, I hate HTML.

      Buzzzzzz....

I've been experimenting with Google Buzz this morning. Not sure it's ready for prime time, but it sure does have a massive beta test market  - everyone.

Best thing to have discovered so far (other than the privacy features Google added after a mere two days) is that you can run Buzz Mobile on your regular browser to collapse conversations.

That's one of its biggest failings - you follow one account like Mashable and you'll be scrolling for miles to get past all the comments. Hundreds of them. Not conducive to seeing what anyone else has to say about anything.

Try this link: https://m.google.com/app/buzz and then click "Continue on an unsupported device".

Then pop it into a new browser window, and narrow it up for readability.

Will Buzz replace Twitter? Nuh-uh. But it's one more option, I do like it better than FriendFeed, and it does have some similar features.
