apparently if there's a comment section it's for others to read. What's the difference between this and a blog?

Well, you can make a blog public so others can read it. It seems strange to have so many places to post stuff. Blogs, forums, journals.......

I wonder what this is all about? Are others going to be able to read this or is it for myself? Will just have to find out. Isn't it just like a blog?
